Pearls are the only gemstone created by a living creature. They require no cutting, no polishing, no intervention. They arrive perfect, if you know where to look, and how long to wait.

At BDK, pearl jewellery begins with the strand, or the single stone, and only then does design follow. Every pearl is hand-matched for its surface quality, its orient, and its size before a setting is considered. The process cannot be hurried. The house has always understood this, which is why BDK pearl jewellery carries a fluidity and uniformity that is immediately recognisable.
Soft yet striking. Minimal yet memorable. Pearls carry a unique serenity, an elegance that does not demand attention, yet effortlessly commands it.

The Basra pearl, the historic natural pearl of the Arabian Gulf, is among the rarest objects in the world of fine jewellery. Matched strands of natural Basra pearls of even size and matching orient are virtually impossible to assemble today. The house has, over decades, built relationships and collections that make such pieces possible, though never quickly, and never cheaply.
South Sea pearls, the largest and most luminous of all cultured pearls, are selected for their orient: the deep, layered glow that comes only from thick nacre and unhurried growth.
