The sapphire speaks in many blues, from the velvety midnight of Kashmir to the crisp cornflower of Ceylon. The house has spent decades learning to hear the difference, and to design around it.

The finest sapphires do not shout. They settle into their colour with a confidence that only nature achieves across millions of years. Kashmir sapphires, among the rarest stones in existence, carry a velvety, almost sleepy quality of blue that no other origin replicates. Ceylon sapphires offer a lighter, crisper blue, equally prized for their clarity and brilliance. The house works with both, and treats each with the respect its rarity demands.
Pieces in the Sapphire Collection are designed to let the stone breathe: settings that hold without constraining, gold that frames without competing.

A Kashmir sapphire is not simply a very good sapphire. It is a category unto itself. The Kashmiri mines, largely exhausted by the early 20th century, produced stones of a velvety, sleepy blue that has never been replicated by any other deposit in the world. When the house encounters one, it is treated as the rare event it is.
Ceylon sapphires, from the island now known as Sri Lanka, offer their own distinction: a lively, brilliant blue that pairs magnificently with the diamond and gold settings at which BDK excels.
